scales of justice Campaign for Better Food Labels Petition

Hello and welcome to The Campaign for Better Food Labels. Even though there are many types of interesting and useful publications
on the Internet, in magazines, medical publications, etc., it is still difficult to go to the local grocery store and know if the products you are
buying are totally gluten free. We have decided to continue our original petitions to the FDA, various manufacturers and U.S. Senators, in hope of persuading them to continue to improve labeling and labeling laws even though there recently were significant changes in food labeling laws. Whether you suffer from Celiac Sprue, Food Allergies, and/or nothing at all, you should be able to know exactly what is in the products you are eating. Current labeling laws now require manufactures to list eight major foods or food group that are believed to account for 90 percent of all food allergies. The top eight allergens that must be listed are milk, eggs, fish, crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, and soybeans. As a celiac I am thankful for the new labeling laws, but the law still does not require them to list barley, oats, rye, and spelt. I firmly believe that everyone, regardless of if you have a food intolerance or not should be able to read labels easily, because there is no reason to hide ingredients for any reason.. Everyone has the right to know what they are consuming and that is the reason we are continuing to petition the FDA and various manufacturers and hopefully in the near future we can have accurate food labels.

If you are interested in supporting this cause, please click on the following links and sent letters to manufactures, the FDA and your senators.: Each person needs to send a separate letter to the FDA and US Senators, but we will send out mass mailings to the various manufacturers.. The reason for sending separate letters to the FDA is so each letter is given a docket number and if we get enough we can make a difference.
